The kitten, who is paralyzed on the hind legs, is trying every day to live happily serving in the family home

BLACK HAWK, SOUTH DAKOTA – You may remember Fury, the paralyzed kitten who was brought to the humane society just before Halloween, clinging to life.

Now, this special needs cat is adjusting quite well to her new forever home in Black Hawk.

The Frybarger family adopted Fury back in January and money was raised to buy her a custom wheelchair so she can get around more easily

“She’s just another part of the family. Just another diaper we have to change,” stated Owner Shana Miller.

Since the family has five children, four dogs and now two special needs cats, routine in the household is a must.

“We change her diaper 3 to 4 times a day. In the morning she gets her bath, after wearing her diaper all night long, and then we’ll put her in the wheelchair for about 3 to 4 hours. She last’s pretty long. She has a beefy cat arms, ” stated Miller.

After her bath, the 8-month-old cat is put into her size 3 diapers and undergoes leg exercises to try to help promote movement.

“Her tail’s been wiggling a lot more by itself and it makes me happy whenever I see it wiggling.”

Although Fury is not able to use her back legs, she has no problem scooting around the house.

“She’ll go downstairs, even though she shouldn’t. She’ll climb the couches, even though she shouldn’t. And she goes outside and chases bugs all in her wheelchair. It’s pretty cool. ”

The entire family hopes to get Fury another wheelchair since she is getting bigger.

“I want her to live the best life that she can for a handicap cat so I want to get her a wheelchair she can go four-wheeling in since she loves the outside.”

Miller says a wheelchair for a cat costs approximately 2 to 3 hundred dollars. They are hoping to find one on their family trip to Denver later this summer.
